aspects of my previous record. Below are the
positive aspects of my previous record, it
was all clearly stated on my application
for the Multimedia course. No days were missed,
every available open access period was used,
all passes. It covers the period September

Thank you for your letter of 11.11.97 which I am replying
to here. I dont find myself in complete agreement with
your findings and I will explain why.
It is true that at the moment, in the area of multimedia,
my greatest fascination is in the realm of image manipulation
/ computer graphics. I dont see why it has been assumed
that I have no further interest in the field, I did touch
on other things at the interview. As for my ability to
work as part of a team, that is so subjective I wont attempt
to address it here.
My Previous Record ?
I started the "Media" course in April 96 and
dropped out of it just over half way through. It should
be noted that at the time I had gained open access to
the darkroom, had all of the research material for the
photo essay, and had the essay itself half written (I
still have it all today for future
use)
Upon leaving the course I wrote to Mr Tanner and explained
that at the time, the course was proving too much for
me, it was too intensive and diverse. That normally this
would not be the case, but for some years had experienced
quite a range of stress related health disorders, and
that the source of that stress had only recently been
reduced. I explained that I was not yet operating at "full
volume" again, and apologized for having wasted a
college place. I then arranged to return some unused rolls
of film, and an unopened pack of photographic paper.
I was still on the sick list at the time, and only came
"off" about three weeks ago. All things considered
I am quite pleased with myself that I got as far as I
did on the "Media" course before I dropped out.
It was Pagemaker that was my big problem on that course
perhaps Mr David Barker could confirm this as I approached
him about it.
The Photography course that I undertook in Jan 97 was
a complete fiasco with me being very ill informed as to
what was what. I was accepted for the course without interview,
I asked the Art Office why, I was told it was not considered
necessary. At first I found myself on a course at Wornington
Road with a tutor called Vasa. This course proved to be
far too advanced for me, so with a red face I made my
apologies and left. As I walked out of the door I came
face to face with Mr Bruce Tanner. I explained to him
my frustration and disappointment. He apologized and steered
me towards a class that he was taking at Hortensia Road.
But I was unaware, that out of my income support I would
have to pay for processing, printing and camera hire.
This was not the case on the "Media" course.
A fellow student, a girl called Anisa, did try to help
out by lending me a camera a Minolta AF 7000. I went on
two Photographic assignments but the camera was faulty.
I was having my films processed by a shop called E.T.A
(Film Plus) in Kensington Park road, W11. The shop asked
to see the camera so I left it with them overnight. The
shop loaded the film and processed the film. They got
the same results that I did, massive under exposure. My
financial resources could not keep up, so I dropped out
of that course. Mr Tanner was quite aware of the problems
that I was having.
I also related this to Ms M Algar and Ms R Gunn at the
multimedia interview, while I was enquiring if I could
use the photo essay that I have now, on the multimedia
course.
I have addressed the negative aspects of my previous
record. Below are the positive aspects of my previous
record, it was all clearly stated on my application
for the Multimedia course. No days were missed, every
available open access period was used, all passes. It
covers the period September 96 - July 97.
